So-Good Sugar Cookies

These were fabulous and SO easy to make! They are a delicate flavor that melts in your mouth…..

So-Good Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

2 sticks unsalted butter (1/2 lb.)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup powdered sugar

2 egg yolks

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 tsp orange zest

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

For rolling cookie dough in:

1/2 cup granulated sugar

Directions:

In a stand mixer leave the butter to soften.

In a large bowl whisk the flour, baking powder, salt and orange zest together.

Beat the softened butter and the two sugars till fluffy, add in the egg yolks and continue beating till incorporated. Add in the vanilla and mix in. Turn mixer to low and slowly add in the flour mixture. Let beat till combined. Push the dough down with a spatula, cover with plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 350° and line two baking trays with parchment paper. Take the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar for rolling and place in a wide bowl.

Dish the dough into Tablespoon size balls (a disher works best, find at restaurant supply stores). Flatten the balls between your palms gently and roll in the sugar. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. The cookies will be very soft and just turning golden on the edges. Let set up for a minute or so, then place on cooling racks.

Makes about 36 cookies.

  1. Wow! I’ve never heard of sugar cookies being made with orange zest — it sounds amazing! I’m definitely going to have to try this recipe. 🙂 I’ve got a major sweet tooth.

Honestly, I didn’t even know what a disher was until I looked it up and they have a bunch of different ones at Mission Restaurant Supply. I’m not even in the restaurant industry and I was still able to order one.

Thanks for the great recipe Sarah!
