Orange Cream Cheese Sweet Biscuits

I made these up for Ford this afternoon. I am sure he will love a few of them for an after school snack 😉

They are soft and full of fresh citrus flavor – equally good as a snack or for breakfast.

Orange Cream Cheese Sweet Biscuits

Ingredients:

Biscuits-

3 cups Heart Smart Bisquick® mix

6 Tbsp granulated sugar

6 Tbsp low-fat cream cheese

1 cup orange juice

1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 tsp orange zest (fresh or dried)

Cream Cheese Topping-

6-ounces low-fat cream cheese

3 Tbsp granulated sugar

1 1/2 Tbsp orange juice

Glaze-

1 cup + 2 Tbsp powdered sugar

1 Tbsp + 2 tsp orange juice

1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions:

Heat your oven to 450°, use convection setting if your oven has it. Line two cookie trays with parchment paper.

Get out 1 large and 2 medium mixing bowls. For the biscuit dough, with a whisk gently mix all the ingredients in the large bowl until combined. Divide into 18 portions, about 1 Tbsp each (a disher works well to do this), on the prepared baking sheet. Using a large spoon coated with cooking spray, press a rounded indention in each biscuit (you will need to respray the spoon often).

In one of the medium bowls combine the cream cheese and sugar together, then whisk in the orange juice. Divide between the biscuits, filling the indention. It is about 1 teaspoon per biscuit, give or take.

Bake for 10 minutes or until turning golden brown on the edges.

Meanwhile, mix up the glaze in the last bowl, stirring until smooth. After bringing the hot biscuits out drizzle the glaze on top and let sit for a couple minutes, then enjoy!

Makes 18 biscuits. (They freeze well – let cool and line with wax paper.)
