Herbed Baking Powder Biscuits

I made a batch last night to go with our stew, they were quick to make and I had them done by the time the stew was coming off the stove. For lunch today I split one open and had spread a little Melt on it and had set it down on my desk. Walker was playing happily next to my chair and I looked over to see how he was doing – and he had taken my biscuit off the desk and was happily eating it, two halves, one in each hand :p Well at least he got to enjoy it!

Herbed Baking Powder Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning blend
  • ¾ tsp kosher salt
  • 4 Tbsp Earth Balance Buttery Stick, diced
  • ¾ cup water

Directions:

Heat the oven to 450° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Sift the dry ingredients together into a large mixing bowl, add in the butter and work in with your fingers until small crumbles. Pour in the water and stir till mixed (fork or fingers), knock out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for a minute, adding flour as needed to not stick. Use a rolling-pin to roll out to about ½” thick, cut into 12 pieces. Place the pieces on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Makes 12.
