Book Reviews: 4 for The Body and Skin

As part of my writing for NaBloPoMo, I have made a goal to work through the many review copies of books I have been sent. It is easy to get swamped by them, never having enough hours to read it seems. But I find…if simply make the time, I can find an hour here and there to study. While I get more read in digital form (on my Kindle app, on my smart phone), I am still an old school paper book lover!

Today I have four books out recently that focus on health of the body, mind and skin.

41

Healing Fatty Liver Disease: A Complete Health and Diet Guide, Including 100 Recipes: A complex book for a niche, but definitely needed.

42

The Eczema Diet: Discover How to Stop and Prevent The Itch of Eczema Through Diet and Nutrition: Two out of my three boys have had it. Alistaire’s is a daily battle (his consumption of dairy is the main trigger). There are ways to battle it though, with diet changes – something I know sadly too much about!

The Complete Migraine Health, Diet Guide and Cookbook: Practical Solutions For Managing Migraine and Headache Pain Plus 150 Recipes: Can one change headaches with diet changes? Yes. I had severe migraines for years. In 2005 I had my first of three severe vertigo migraines. They are not well-studied ones, a doctor saw me in the middle of the last one and was fascinated to say the least. They would last 12 to 18 hours and disable me. After two MRI’s and a lot of pondering, a neurologist I was seeing put me on a restrictive diet: no smoking, alcohol, artificial coloring, flavoring, preservatives, sulfites and so on. For me colors were the biggest trigger. I can almost predict migraines now, if I have eaten food I shouldn’t. Although pregnancy did a good number on me and brought on aura ones. Hopefully I don’t get anymore of those ones 😉 I am a firm believer that diet changes CAN make a difference with headaches.

The 8-Week Healthy Skin Diet: Includes More Than 100 Recipes for Beautiful Skin: Eat a better diet, have better skin? For me, yes! And I don’t even need a diet for that 😀
