Finally I have a recipe dialed in that is tasty and easy! Only took me 2 flops and 3 tries ;-P It was very delicious though and made my busy morning a lot easier.
The step of laying down the apples prevents the oats from burning into the crock. It makes cleanup a lot easier and you get less waste as well.
Slow Cooker Apple and Cherry Oatmeal
- 2 apples (used Gala), peeled, cored and chopped
- ½ dried cherries
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 cups old-fashioned oats
- 4 cups unsweetened almond milk
Toss the apples and cherries with the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, transfer to your slow cooker and spread out evenly. Top with the oats and then pour the milk over gently.
Put on the lid and set to Low, let cook for 6 to 9 hours.
Stir well and dish up.
Serves 3 large bowls.
